India’s Republic Day Celebrated in Washington DC

India’s Republic Day was celebrated in Washington DC in the morning of January 26, 2013 at the Embassy premises. Prior to the event, Ambassador Nirupama Rao paid homage and floral tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. At the Republic Day celebrations, Ambassador unfurled the National Flag followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, Ambassador addressed the guests and read out the President’s Address to the Nation. This was followed by singing of Indian patriotic songs in several Indian languages.
