Man Dies at Miami Beach While Attempting to Save Son from High Tides

Miami Beach, FL: Sainath Kurup, originally from Vadakara in Kerala, India died at Miami Beach, Florida, Sunday, July 7, 2013 evening. He was attempting to save his son from high tides, when the incident happend. He and his family had come from Houston, Texas, to participate in the 7th Kerala Hindus of North America (KHNA) Convention in Weston, FL.

 

Mr Kurup had been living with his family in Houston since a few years. He is survived by his wife and two children aged 13 and 9. The children had won numerous prizes and recognitions during the convention and also in past KHNA activities.

 

Sainath Kurup was in the US with a work visa and was the sole income earner for the family.

To meet the expenses of the funeral and safe transportation of the body to Houston, a fundraising effort is being coordinated by KHNA members. KHNA President Anadan Niravel, Trustee Chair Anil Pillai, and President Elect T N Nair have been coordinating the effort. Funds are required for the survival of the family for the immediate future as well.
